The same day in 1981 I picked up the 1958 Les Paul Special I also bought a Peavy Bandit. I’d always played through Fender tube amps so this was somewhat of a leap for me. I was really impressed with how it sounded. The band I was in was playing Journey, Rush, Clapton type songs. This paired with the P-90s on the LP Special worked well. It also wasn’t too bad to lug around either. It turns out as history has it this was one of the better amps of it time. Below are some pictures from the internet of a Bandit.
As with a lot of players, my family and work situation changed. My wife and I had our son and shortly after we moved from Colorado to California. We lived in an apartment for awhile but really wanted to have our own place. When it came down to buying our first home I sold both my 1958 Les Paul Special and the Peavy bandit to help pay the bills. This time it didn’t hurt as much because really enjoying my new son and there was no room for playing guitar in my life.
