Hi! My name is Hal Jones, but my music friends call me EddieJ. I retired from a career in High Technology at the end 2012 after which I worked for a couple of companies while I figured out what it meant to be completely retired.
During my career I was working so much what free time I had I spent with my family and friends. Unfortunately, my hobbies took a back seat until my late 30s. At that time, I was inspired by Steve Ray Vaughan to start playing guitar again. First song learned was Crossfire from In Step. I played at the office during division skit. It was then I decided to focus primarily on blues and blues rock.
Now that I’m retired, I am devoting a good portion of my time to playing guitar. My primary goal is to be able to play blues guitar at live venues and secondarily share what I learn in the process with others. I created this web site to share my knowledge and experience as I get back into playing.
As a service to other aspiring Blues and Blues Rock guitarist, I will provide a list of artists who’ve influenced my playing over the years including current artist, artist I recommend following, online instructors I use along with recommending educational books, practice jam tracks. I’ll also go over some of the music gear I’ve owned and tried over the years. Some of it I still own and use, both analog and digital equipment.
I’ve been pretty fortunate to have met many professional players over the years. Some continue to help me through my journey. I’ll also post about venues and festivals supporting live blues music in hopes that you’ll be able to attend some of them.
Enjoy, have fun and jam on!
